Sask. NDP announces shadow cabinet

REGINA – Trent Wotherspoon and the Saskatchewan NDP announced their shadow cabinet Thursday morning.

Wotherspoon will serve as a critic for youth and the economy. Once the Sask. Party releases the budget, new finance critic Cathy Sproule will lead the opposition in critiques of the budget and Sproule will handle the agriculture and environment files.

“This is an exceptionally strong and diverse team,” Wotherspoon said.

“Each of them brings a work ethic and commitment to not only hold government to account, but also fight tirelessly to deliver for Saskatchewan people.”

Carla Beck will serve as Education, Early Learning and Childcare critic while Warren McCall will remain House Leader and critic for Advanced Education.

“These members come from different backgrounds and have a variety of experiences,” Wotherspoon said.

“We are united in our commitment to serving the people of Saskatchewan and I look forward to working alongside each of them as we get going on this important work as a team.”

Trent Wotherspoon: Leader of the Official Opposition and Critic for Executive Council and Office of the Premier, Intergovernmental Affairs, the Economy, and Youth.

Buckley Belanger: Deputy Leader and Critic for First Nations and Métis Relations, Highways and Infrastructure, Energy and Resources, and the Global Transportation Hub.

Carla Beck: Deputy Whip and Critic for Education, Early Learning and Childcare, Crown Investments Corporation, Saskatchewan Government Insurance, and SaskEnergy.

Danielle Chartier: Public Accounts and Critic for Health, Seniors, and Sask Builds.

David Forbes: Caucus Chair and Critic for Labour Relations and Workplace Safety, Diversity, Equality, and Human Rights; Housing, the Workers’ Compensation Board, and Associate Critic for Education.

Warren McCall: House Leader and Critic for Advanced Education, Jobs, Skills, and Training; Trade, Tourism Saskatchewan, Innovation, Central Services, SaskTel, Parks, Culture, and Sport; the Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation, the Public Service Commission, the Provincial Capital Commission, and Associate Critic for First Nations and Métis Relations.
