WINNIPEG – A building under construction just north of Winnipeg has completely collapsed.
The large structure was going up north of the Perimeter, between Main Street and McPhillips.
Ridgemark Builders had just started framing last week on what was to be a shop partly for the company, partly for rent.
Owner Mark Enns told Global News it’s at this stage in construction that a building is most vulnerable to wind, particularly in an open area.
Wind gusts reached more than 50 km/hour overnight.
Enns said he’s ‘grateful no one was hurt’.
Health and safety inspectors have looked at the site and insurance surveyors are on scene, but Enns said it’s too early to know what the damage cost will be.
