One of 2 men stabbed at Saskatoon disturbance dies

SASKATOON – Police are now investigating Saskatoon’s fourth homicide of 2016. One of two injured men found after a disturbance in a parking lot early Saturday morning has died.

Just before 2:30 a.m. CT on Saturday, officers were called to 7 Assiniboine Drive where a fight reportedly broke out.

Two men, aged 22 and 18, had been stabbed and were taken to hospital by MD Ambulance.

The 22-year-old man underwent emergency surgery and passed away from his injuries at 9:42 a.m. the same day. His name has not been released at this time.

Police say an autopsy is expected to take place sometime next week.

The 18-year-old man was treated and released from hospital.

Forensic identification unit members processed a fairly large area of the parking lot on Saturday. Investigators are continuing to interview several witnesses.

CORRECTION: Police had previously stated one of the injured males was 20 years old.
