UPDATE: Saskatoon homicide suspect arrested by Edmonton police

Edmonton police arrested Miguel Gomez, 20, who is wanted in connection to a Saskatoon homicide in April. A Canada-wide warrant had been issued for his arrest.

The Saskatoon Police Service said Gomez is wanted for second-degree murder in relation to Saskatoon’s fourth homicide of 2016.

He was arrested Thursday and will see a justice of the peace in Edmonton before being taken back to Saskatoon to face charges. A court date in Saskatoon is not known at this time.

On April 16, officers were called to a parking lot at Assiniboine Drive and Warman Road in Saskatoon where a fight was reported. Two men, ages 22 and 18, were found to be suffering from stab wounds.

The 22-year-old man died in hospital. His name has not been released by police at this time.

Investigators say suspect and victim were not known to each prior to the homicide.

The 18-year-old man was treated and released from hospital.
