Arrest made after shots fired at Edmonton cab

EDMONTON – A man is in custody after shots were fired Saturday at a taxi downtown.

The cab was going east on 115th Avenue around 3 a.m. when for unknown reasons a man repeatedly fire a handgun at the car near 81st Street, said acting Staff Sgt. Mike Hickey.

The driver fled and was able to call police. More than one shot hit the taxi, but there were no injuries.

The vehicle wasn’t carrying any passengers.

Police arrested a man in his mid 20s a short time later and charged him with several firearms offences.
