EDMONTON – The Edmonton Queen Riverboat has been put up for auction.

The online auction for the nearly 400-passenger riverboat went live late last week. As of 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, the highest bid for the vessel was $11,000.

The company that currently owns the riverboat wouldn’t say why it is selling the Queen.

The sale of the vessel doesn’t appear to be impacting upcoming cruises, though. The riverboat’s website states it will be open for reservations for the upcoming sailing season on May 3.

The Edmonton River Queen went into commission on the North Saskatchewan River in 1996. The attraction offers family-friendly cruises for several occasions, including weddings, business meetings and class field trips.

The online auction is being hosted by Century Services and runs until May 2. An open house will be held on the boat on Saturday, April 23.
