KELOWNA — Kelowna RCMP say they’ve taken four guns off the streets following two separate incidents earlier this week.

The first seizure occurred early Monday morning when the RCMP pulled over a silver Volkswagen Jetta driving erratically down Highway 97 near McCurdy with its lights off.

Police say they recovered drugs and guns from the vehicle.

“The officer arrested the driver and subsequently located marijuana allegedly in the driver’s possession. A further search of the vehicle yielded further illegal drugs, including Crystal Meth,” says Cst. Jesse O’Donaghey.

“More concerning to the investigator was the discovery of three firearms, one of which was loaded, located inside the vehicle. Police have seized a rifle and two revolvers along with live ammunition.”

The driver has been identified as a 43-year-old West Kelowna resident who was prohibited from driving.

Also on Monday, RCMP witnessed a Pontiac Grand Am speeding on Enterprise Way. The vehicle pulled in to a local hotel parking lot where a man was witnessed throwing something from the vehicle.

“Investigators quickly determined that the discarded object was in fact a revolver pistol, which was seized by police,” says O’Donaghey.

The driver has been identified as a 49-year-old North Westside woman who was issued a 24-hour driving prohibition because she was allegedly high on drugs. The passenger has been identified as Yeorgios Sintihakis of Kelowna. He’s facing several firearm related charges and has been released on bail.
