CALGARY – A runaway dump truck caused a significant amount of damage on Monday when it went rolling down a steep hill in northwest Calgary.

“The truck was unoccupied and it appears at this time that the emergency brake failed,” Calgary Police Service Constable James Dore said.

The vehicle rolled approximately 500 feet, hitting a fire hydrant and a tree before coming to rest against a retaining wall in the area of 10 Avenue and 18a Street N.W. at around 8:30 a.m.
