B.C. has a new multi-millionaire thanks to the March 19 6/49 draw.
Sixty-four-year-old George Speck of Alert Bay has claimed the $3.5 million jackpot. He says he forgot about the ticket until he heard rumours there was a winner from Alert Bay.
“At 10:30 at night I took my ticket out, went on the Internet, and oh my god, all six numbers. I didn’t believe it. I had a cousin staying with me at the time, [I said] ‘what does this mean? He looked at it and said ‘George, it means you’ve got a winning ticket’,” said Speck.
He retired last year and says the money will help fund his retirement. He will also share the wealth with his five children and he plans to buy a new truck for himself and a small fishing boat for his wife.
