Alberta RCMP are asking for the public’s help in a “sudden death” investigation after a man’s body was found on a trail in Red Deer, Alta.

RCMP said the 34-year-old man was found on the walking trails east of Bower Place Mall at about 6:45 p.m. Tuesday. They said at the request of the man’s family, they are not releasing his name.

Police are canvassing neighbourhoods in the area to see if anyone saw anything unusual, and are asking anyone with information to call their local police department.

The scene remained secured as of 5 p.m. Wednesday and residents were asked to stay away from the walking trails that run in a northern direction east of the mall. The trails were reopened to the public at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

A Thursday autopsy at the Calgary Medical Examiner’s Office didn’t reveal a cause of death, RCMP said.
