WINNIPEG — New information has prompted Winnipeg police to ask the public for help in tracking down a suspect in a massive fire officials believe was set deliberately.
The blaze caused about 3.5 million dollars in damage when it leveled a three storey condo complex on Waverley St. at John Angus in South Pointe on Oct. 22. The flames forced the evacuation of several surrounding homes. No one was hurt.

Police say it now appears someone was drinking at a nearby construction site at 100 Southview Cres. that had been broken into around the same time. They found an accelerant at that location and are now asking anyone who may have information to contact police at (204) 986-6813 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
