Summary: Progressive Conservative incumbent Blaine Pedersen will seek re-election for the second time while Jacqueline Theroux will try to take the riding for the NDP. Two rookie politicians, the Liberal’s Julia Sisler and the Green Party’s Stacey O’Neill, will join the race.
Boundaries: This southeastern Manitoba riding holds a portion of Spruce Woods Provincial Park in the northwestern corner and Fannystelle in the northeastern. Highway 201 runs east/west along the southern edge with the town of Fallison in the southwestern corner and Kronsgart in the southeastern. Highway 2 runs east/west through the northern portion of the riding.

Last Election: Progressive Conservative incumbent Blaine Pedersen was re-elected with 69 per cent of the votes. NDP candidate Jacqueline Theroux followed with 23 per cent and the 2011 Liberal candidate Leah Jeffers won six per cent of the votes.
History: This riding was previously known as Rhineland, then changed to Carman, and has been known since 2011 as Midland. Since the 1970’s the riding has been known as a Progressive Conservative stronghold.
