Schumer gave the massive tip to a group of bartenders at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, where the play is currently having its run.

Apparently, this wasn’t the first bit of help Schumer has bestowed upon the bar staff at Hamilton.

The last time the comedian showed up at the bar, she gave an $80 tip for a $40 bill, DeJohn said.

When DeJohn thanked Schumer at that time for the generosity, Schumer allegedly said “I’ve been there, I get it.”

Before Schumer made it big in showbiz, she too used to bartend and wait tables in New York City.

The tip was split among the bartenders working that night, and each pocketed about $160. All of them are aspiring actors.

“I’d like to think if I become that successful, that I can do the same,” DeJohn said. “She’s been one of us. She reminded me that there’s still a lot of good in the world.”
