There have now been more than a dozen shootings in Surrey since the beginning of the year.
There was another targeted shooting over the weekend after shots were fired at a home on 110 Avenue and 132 Street just before 7 a.m. on Sunday. Several shell casings were found, but fortunately no one was hurt.
Police say the occupants of the home are known to them.
Just two of the shootings include one on Friday when a 23-year-old man was shot in the shoulder in Guildford. Last Monday, shots were fired between two vehicles near King George Boulevard and 64 Avenue.
At this point, investigators say most of the shootings do not appear to be linked, but residents are becoming increasingly concerned.
“It’s real for us,” Doug Elford of the Newton Community Association said earlier in March. “We feel it every day and we don’t want this to escalate into what happened before. They’ve got to get on top of this now before it gets really bad.
Surrey RCMP Cpl. Scotty Schumann said they don’t know the motive for the shootings.
“I can say that we’re working very hard behind the scenes to try and identify all of the people involved as well as what’s driving them to this sort of violence,” he said.
