REGINA – A youth is facing assault charges following the robbery of a taxi driver Saturday morning.
Police say at approximately 5:45 a.m. a 17-year-old male, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, wielded a machete at the end of a fare on the 1000 block of Pasqua Street and held it to the taxi driver. The driver left the vehicle and suffered a laceration on his hand.

The male suspect fled the scene without the machete and was arrested shortly after.
The investigation is ongoing.
