The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is looking into a homicide in Surrey on Friday night.
RCMP were called to the area of 79th Avenue and 123 Street just after 9:00 p.m. to a report of a car hitting a tree.
IHIT said a man at the scene was “suffering from injuries inconsistent with a car crash.”
On Saturday afternoon, IHIT said the homicide was targeted.
Sources tell Global News the driver was found with a gunshot wound, but police have not confirmed this.
The victim is believed to have gone into cardiac arrest. CPR was performed on him as he was transported to hospital where he later died.
