Lethbridge man wanted on Canada-wide warrant remains on the run despite tip

LETHBRIDGE – Lethbridge Police and the Public Safety Communications Centre (PSCC) have reviewed a 911 call and will tighten dispatch protocols after a concern was raised on social media over the time it took officers to respond to a report of a wanted subject.

On March 7, 2016 at 5:52 a.m. a woman contacted dispatch to report that a man she had seen on social media that was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant was currently at the Scenic Drive McDonalds. The caller did not identify the man but dispatchers were able to determine she was referring to David Fomradas, who was the subject of a media release and social media posts by Lethbridge police on March 3.

Eight minutes after the initial call the dispatcher was advised the man had left the restaurant and subsequently placed the call in pending. At 7:20 a.m. an officer was dispatched to follow-up.

LPS and the PSCC have completed a review of the matter and going forward will work together to  tighten dispatch protocols so calls of this nature are dispatched at a higher priority.

David Fomradas is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for being unlawfully at large after he failed to return to an outpatient facility in Coquitlam, BC. Fomradas is originally from Lethbridge and still has ties to the community.

Fomradas has the potential for violence when not taking his medication and if sighted, the public is advised not to approach him and call police – 403-328-4444 (non-emergency) or 911 in an emergency.

Since the March 3 media release and social media posts, the PSCC has received a handful of phone calls regarding Fomradas, some reporting seeing him at various locations in the city as well as in other in jurisdictions outside the city.

Fomradas remains at large and anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact police at 403-328-4444.
