Knife-wielding robber restrained by customer, employee in attempted robbery

Police have arrested a woman who they say attempted to rob a gas station in Halifax early Wednesday morning.

Halifax Regional Police were called to the Esso gas station on Dutch Village Road just before 7 a.m. after it was reported that a woman, armed with a knife, tried to rob the store.

An employee and customer were restraining the woman and were able to take the knife away from her.

Just a few minutes later, officers arrived on scene and arrested the woman.

They have since charged 26-year-old Stephanie Kathryn Larden, a resident of Halifax, with several charges including robbery, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of recognizance.

Police say she’s also facing other charges including theft and possession under $5,000 in relation to a precious incident.

Larden is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court Wednesday.
