ENDERBY — The north Okanagan community of Enderby is trying to come to grips following a deadly single vehicle crash that claimed the life of two young women.
The victims have been identified through social media as Paige Whitelaw and Carlee De Boer.
Both victims were 21. They died after the pick-up up truck they were traveling in, failed to make a curve on Highway 6 in Vernon early Sunday morning and rolled several times. Both women were pronounced dead at the scene.
De Boer grew up in Enderby. Friends says Whitelaw was from Ladysmith.

The mayor of Enderby says he knew De Boer.
“She was amazing. Very popular. Very well liked,” says Mayor Greg McCune. “She was from a very large family so it’s having a devastating effect on our community.”
McCune says he’s been fielding calls all day regarding the tragedy. “The phone hasn’t stopped ringing. The community is very upset. It’s going to be a tough couple of weeks. Our community will always remember Carlee.”
McCune believes both women were roommates at Okanagan College.
The driver of the vehicle that crashed is also a former Enderby resident. The 21-year-old man has since moved to Armstrong. Police say speed and alcohol may have been contributing factors in the crash.
So far, no charges have been laid.
