World-class cross-country skiing hits Montreal

MONTREAL – Quebec’s Alex Harvey finished in the top ten as Ski Tour Canada made a stop in Montreal Wednesday afternoon en route to the FIS World Cup finals in Canmore, Alberta.

On the women’s side, the best-finishing Canadian was Emily Nishikawa, who came in 45th.

Norwegians dominated Wednesday’s event.

Emil Iversen and Petter Jr. Northug snagged first and second place in the men’s division, with Russian Sergey Ustiugov grabbing third.

In the women’s division, all three top finishers were Norwegians – Therese Johaug, Heidi Weng and Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen.

Upcoming races on the tour include two dates in Quebec City Friday and Saturday.

The World Cup finals will finish in Canmore starting March 8.

It marks the first time in history the FIS World Cup will finish in Canada.
