REGINA – Copper Kettle owner Robert Gardikiotis has passed away at 81 years old.

Gardikiotis had been fighting cancer over the last two years, and succumbed to the disease on Monday night, surrounded by family and friends.

Robert and his wife Ann opened the Copper Kettle over fifty years ago, and today it remains a cornerstone in the downtown core.

Those who knew him say he had a contagious energy and was always supportive of downtown businesses.

“I think there’s a man full of integrity, full of vision, he’s a pioneering spirit.”

“You’re just seeing someone a little bit ahead of his time, and wanted to welcome you into his home which was downtown,” Crave Kitchen+Bar’s Craig Perrault remembered.

Services will be held Friday at St.Pauls Greek Orthodox Church at 10 a.m.
