Condolence books have been set out for the public to sign and offer support to the Getty family. An online tribute page is also available.

The former premier passed away Feb. 26 at the age of 82. Getty served as Alberta’s premier from 1985 to 1991, during which time he created Family Day.

“Family was important,” son Darin Getty said in a past interview. “We took a lot of trips together as family…that was important to my dad.” He believes starting Family Day may end up being one of his father’s political legacies.

The service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. MT at Edmonton’s All Saints’ Anglican Cathedral, 10035-103 Street N.W.

Parking is available south of the church and in the Bay parkade. All attendees are asked to be in their seats by 10:40 a.m.
