WATCH: A winter snow storm hit Toronto on Tuesday, bringing with it dangerous road conditions that caused major headaches and collisions for some motorists. Ashley Carter reports – Mar 2, 2016

TORONTO – A severe winter storm is bearing down on the GTA, and forced the closure of many schools and services Tuesday. But it’s not done yet, and the storm is to drop up to 25 cm of snow by Wednesday morning, likely leading to more cancellations and major chaos for commuters.

TTC had a rough Tuesday morning, with a major subway interruption. For the latest on impacted transit lines on Wednesday morning get service updates here or follow @TTCnotices on Twitter.

GO Transit

GO Transit said Tuesday night it will be operating trains on an adjusted scheduled Wednesday. Some express trips will be cancelled. UP Express will run every 30 minutes.

 Air travel

Multiple flights from Toronto were cancelled Tuesday. Check your flight status and watch for Twitter updates from your point of departure.

Air Canada, Westjet and Porter have issued travel advisories and loosened their ticketing policies for affected flights.

Schools

Colleges and Universities
Closures are from Tuesday. Check with your school for the latest.

Centennial College: all campuses closed as of 3:30 p.m.

George Brown College:  Continuing Education classes proceeding as scheduled, but specific classes are cancelled

University of Guelph-Humber closing at 6 p.m.

Humber College closing at 6 p.m. Child Care Centres are staying open until parents are able to pick up their children.

McMaster University closing at 4:30.

Mohawk College closed at 3:30 p.m.

Seneca College: part-time Faculty of Education classes and community recreation events are continuing with a disclaimer; if students feel unsafe to travel, they should contact instructors.

Sheridan College: closing at 5 p.m. All evening classes cancelled.

University of Toronto‘s Mississauga campus is closing at 6 p.m.

University of Ontario Institute of Technology has cancelled all classes after 6:30 p.m.

York University has declared a “weather emergency” and closed its campus as of 4:30 p.m.
