HALIFAX – Nova Scotia’s transportation minister says a portable asphalt plant purchased by the province should arrive within two to three weeks.
Maurice Smith says the plant will become operational some time this summer in Cape Breton’s Victoria County.

Smith says the plan is to pave a total of 90 kilometres of road using the portable plant during the current work season.
He says the work will be done in areas of the province where there has been a lack of competitive bidding by the private sector.

The asphalt plant is being provided by General Combustion Corp. of Orlando, Fla.
The province awarded the company a $3.6 million tender for the plant last December.
