A 28-year-old mother from Newmarket, Ont. north of Toronto was charged with impaired driving after she allegedly left her 7-year-old daughter home alone this week.
York Regional Police say the accused was involved in a collision on Feb. 23 around 5:40 p.m. at the intersection of Yonge Street and Kingston Road when officers noticed she was impaired.

The woman was arrested on the scene and was transported to a police station where she failed a breathalyzer test.
After further questioning, police say they discovered the accused had a young daughter at home alone.
The child was located by officers at her residence around 9:30 p.m. and the father was called to pick her up.
The Children’s Aid Society was also notified.
The accused, whose name is being withheld to protect the child’s identity, has been charged with impaired driving over 80mg, obstruct police and leave child unattended.
Police are urging anyone who suspects a driver to be impaired to contact authorities.
