LONGUEUIL – Five men were arrested and a large quantity of cannabis was seized by Longueuil police in the borough of Saint-Hubert Saturday night.

Officers were called to a home on Sinclair Street at 8:15 p.m. after receiving reports that a man was suffering from a medical condition.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment.

While at the scene, police discovered a large quantity of cannabis on the premises.

According to Tony Lacoste, spokesperson for Longueuil police, the suspects intended to transform the cannabis into hashish on site.

Police seized drugs, processing equipment and more than $40,000 in cash from the home.

Officers arrested five men in their 20s including the man who was taken to hospital.

Lacoste confirmed that two of the suspects were known to police for drug-related offences.

All five men were released with a promise to appear in court at a later date.
