REGINA – Hundreds of Regina residents flocked to the Eastview Community Centre for the 3rd annual Eastview Winter Carnival.
From face painting, to dog obedience shows, the frosty festival had no shortage of entertainment for both the young, and the old.
“Inside we have dino bouncers. We have face painters, balloon artists, bunch of heros”
“Dog shows, little bit for everybody, every person in the family”, Bill Gray of Eastview Community said.
However, due to the unseasonable warm temperatures this winter season and the lack of snow, events like dog sledding and snow shoe races were cancelled.
It’s something organizers say they can’t control.

“Sometimes things don’t come together, but we have a full slate”
“It’s pretty hard to build a snowman with no snow, or have snowshoe races, but those are things we depend on Mother Nature”, Gray quipped.
But one outdoor activity that did grow in popularity was the horse drawn sleigh rides, as families lined up for a chance to take a stroll around the block.
” Lots of the kids are pretty excited the first time.” horse carriage operator Harvey Macfarland explained. “We can get as many people out as we can, and give them ride around because not many people get to ride with the horses anymore”
Whatever the activity of choice, organizers say it’s all to give back to the community.
It’s why they plan this every year.
“Eastview is very family oriented, and it’s just our way of thanking families, for being in Eastview, thank you families in Regina for coming to Eastview. We just want to make sure that this is a family event and everyone’s welcome”, Gray rejoiced.
