MONTREAL – Traffic was blocked Saturday morning on Highway 40 eastbound in Anjou after a truck driver lost control of his rig.

The incident happened at around 6:30 a.m. near exit 82 at Roi-René Boulevard on Highway 40 East.

It is unclear what caused the driver to lose control of his vehicle.

Sgt. Claude Denis with the Sûreté du Québec told Global News the driver was apparently trying to apply windshield washer fluid  when he hit the curb on the right side of the road.

The 42-year-old man was taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Sgt. Denis confirmed the truck was not carrying any hazardous material.

As of  11:30 a.m., the highway’s eastbound lanes remained closed between Roi-René Boulevard and Bourget Boulevard as workers attempted to tow the rig.
