An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper is extremely lucky to be alive after being struck by an SUV in the middle of a high speed rollover.

Trooper Jason Richardson’s brush with death was captured by the dash camera from his police cruiser last month.

Richardson was walking toward an accident scene along a grassy patch in the centre median when the incident occurred.

The video shows how an SUV travelling in the opposite direction lost control and veered right into the path of Richardson as it rolls over.

Miraculously, Richardson survived the incident with only injuries to his legs and head.

“How did he survive this? It’s amazing, it’s a miracle,” Lieutenant John Vincent of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.

According to a KFOR News report, the driver of the SUV was not charged in the incident and authorities investigating the incident believe ice played a factor in the rollover.
