BARRIE, Ont. – Police in Barrie, Ont., say a woman is charged after allegedly stealing thousands of dollars donated to the Army Cadets.

They say the alleged theft from 2919 Grey and Simcoe Foresters Royal Canadian Army Cadets Corp occurred last year.

Investigators say a woman had been collecting money on behalf of the organization, but the funds never made it into the group’s accounts.

A 38-year-old Barrie woman is alleged to have kept close to $12,000 for herself.

She has been charged with theft over $5,000 and is to appear in court on March 21.

Police say she was also relieved of her treasury duties at the Royal Canadian Army Navy Cadets.
