Calgary fire fighters jump into action after crash leaves car dangling from bridge

CALGARY – Fire crews were called to the scene of a single vehicle crash on Symons Valley Parkway northwest Sunday morning at around 10:50 a.m.

When they arrived, a four door car was found hanging from the bridge decking. The driver had lost control, resulting in the vehicle going off the roadway and coming to a rest halfway off the bridge.

Fire fighters secured the car using chains and a motorized winch system before removing the doors and dash to extricate the two occupants that were in the car.

Officials said one man was taken to to hospital with undetermined injuries.

Officials continue to investigate what caused the accident.

Traffic in the area was shut down temporarily.
