MONTREAL – A public visitation is being held Sunday for Tahar Amer-Ouali, a Laval man killed in the Jan. 14 terror attacks in Jakarta.
Amer-Ouali, 70, was a successful hearing aid specialist, with three clinics in the Montreal area. He recognized a need for hearing care professionals in Indonesia and according to his son, Farid Amer-Ouali, it was one of the reasons he traveled to the South-Asian country.
“He mentioned that there was a lot of people who needed help over there, that they didn’t necessarily have the means we have here, so he was trying to help out with that.”

Members of the public wishing to pay their respects to the family can do so at the Islamic Centre of Quebec (ICQ ) located at 2520 Laval Road in Ville St-Laurent between 4:30 and 7 p.m.
As well as Sunday’s visitation, a prayer will be recited on Monday at 1 p.m., followed by the burial at the Muslim cemetery in Laval.
Amer-Ouali, was one of two civilians killed in the suicide bombings led by Islamic State militants.
