REGINA – Citizenship and Immigration Canada is closing its Regina office, leaving the province with only one centre in Saskatoon.
Immigration Minister Jason Kenney said after a speech in Regina that the department needs to reduce its footprint, overhead and administration costs.

Kenney says services will be available online or through a call centre.
He also says a third-party could be used to administer things such as language tests.

An official with Citizenship and Immigration Canada confirms that seven of the 10 jobs in Regina will be eliminated and three will be transferred to Saskatoon.
The closure is expected to take place June 1.
