MONTREAL – Commuters woke up to another traffic jam Thursday as the northbound lanes of Peel Street were closed between de la Gauchetière and Saint-Antoine streets.

The Marriott Hotel at the base of Place du Canada is changing its water towers, which sit on the roof.

“It’s an energy efficiency project for us,” said Joseph Klein, the hotel’s manager.

WATCH: Construction on Peel Street

Klein wouldn’t divulge the cost of the renovations, but said they’re scheduled to be finished by 6 p.m. Sunday.
