Thousands of dollars of equipment stolen from Winnipeg pop up restaurant

WINNIPEG — A generator, drills, stereo system and multiple other pieces of equipment worth thousands of dollars were stolen from RAW: Almond Saturday night.

The pop up restaurant is still under construction and when crews arrived Sunday morning to continue work they noticed the missing equipment.

Chef Mandel Hitzer told Global News the access road gates had been snipped. The restaurant has since hired security guards for the site.

The generator that is estimated between five to ten thousand dollars was recovered Monday morning, the rest of the equipment remains missing.

RAW: Almond is expected to open on Jan 21.
