He’s been backing-up Jackson Whistle for the past season, but now 19-year-old Michael Herringer is getting his shot as the go to guy.
With Whistle sidelined for the next two weeks with a lower body injury, the Kelowna club is calling on Herringer to fill that top netminder role.
“It’s really exciting. I always want to play games. I’m going to have fun with it,” says Herringer.
“The pressure of being a starting goaltender, making sure he’s ready to start every game, those are some things we’ve been stressing,”
says Rockets head coach Brad Ralph. “He’s very capable and we expect him to win us hockey games.”

And so far, so good. In the four games Herringer’s been called on to start in the past two weeks he’s won three.
With Whistle out, another Okanagan product is getting his shot at the WHL.
The Rockets have called on Brady Lenardon of the KIJHL’s North Okanagan Knights to fill the back-up role.
