PQ leader vows to fight for Anglos to be heard on Bill 86

MONTREAL-  PQ Leader Pierre-Karl Péladeau says the Liberal government is not respecting Anglophone rights when it comes to Bill 86.

The English Montreal School Board and the Commission Scolaire de Montreal have been left off the list to testify at hearings into school board reform.

“We are flabbergasted that the Liberals are reducing their rights and excluding a very big community,” Péladeau told reporters Thursday.

The group which represents English boards across the Province, the Quebec English School Boards Association will testify.

Péladeau promised to keep pushing for the CSDM and the EMSB to have their individual requests heard.

“We should say to the anglophone community, the Liberals take your votes and then they’re not there anymore. They’re not respecting your rights,” Péladeau added.

50 groups are slated to testify once the hearings get started on January 28.
