EDMONTON – A 15-year-old boy was rushed to hospital in critical condition following a two-vehicle crash in east Edmonton Friday night.
It happened at the corner of 50 Street and Sherwood Park Freeway at around 6:45 p.m.
Police said a car was turning left onto the freeway when it collided with a pickup truck.
They didn’t say which vehicle the teenage boy was travelling in.
Police said 50 Street was shut down between 76 Avenue and Sherwood Park Freeway for a period of time Friday while officers investigated.
There is no word yet on what caused the crash.
“It is very early in the investigation. We are trying to get the story from both drivers, of course,” Const. Pierre Lemire with the Edmonton Police Service said Friday.
“Speed is not believed to be a factor at this point.”
Lemire said alcohol is not believed to be a factor either.
No other injuries were reported.
