Several cars were damaged on the Sea to Sky Highway early this morning when a rock slide came tumbling down between Eagleridge Drive and Ansell Place just before 2 a.m.
West Vancouver Police say some of the drivers involved were hurt in the slide, but none of them have serious injuries.
The Ministry of Transportation told Global News the rock mesh and catchment area contained the majority of the rock fall, with a small amount of rock spilling over into the northbound slow lane.
Highway 99 was closed for about an hour as crews worked to assess the cliffside.
It has since reopened thanks to snowplows, which helped clear the rocks away. However, the northbound lane is still closed between Eagleridge Drive and Ansell Place to allow crews to remove the rock contained in the catchment area.
A detailed geotechnical assessment is currently underway and the ministry anticipates the lane will be open to traffic again later today.
