LACHINE — A group of parents is looking for 11th-hour remedies in an effort to keep the Lakeside Academy from closing.

One solution floated by Lachine councillors involves possibly tweaking provincial law without changing Bill 101.

“We’re going to lose the school based on some kind of technicality in our provincial law, so we need to look at that,” councillor Maja Vodanovic said.

Lester B. Pearson School Board officials estimate the board’s schools have an attrition rate of about 500 students a year, and announced the school would close in June.

A request for reconsideration is being planned for the board’s meeting Jan. 26, when parents hope they can get the board to change its vote.
