The regional coroner says Grubisic was seen in the river, holding onto the ice in the afternoon of December 30, but he disappeared before rescuers could reach him.

“Tracks in the snow indicated he was trying to walk across the ice covered river in an area just south of Highway 3,” says coroner for the Interior region, Larry Marzinzik.

Search and Rescue crews and the RCMP Dive Team found and recovered Grubisic, deceased, from the river.

The coroners service and RCMP continue to investigate the death.
