EDMONTON – A home east of Edmonton was heavily damaged by fire Monday morning.
Fire crews were called to the home near Range Road 221 and Township Road 531 in the Ardrossan area around 4:20 a.m.
Video shot by the Global 1 helicopter showed thick smoke pouring out of the bungalow. A gaping hole could be seen in the roof of the charred home.

The home had a metal roof which made it more difficult to battle the blaze, a fire official said.
Two people, along with a dog, were inside the home when the fire started, but all were able to make it out safely. They were then taken in by relatives who live next door.

The fire was still burning as of 8:30 a.m.
It’s not known what started the fire.
