CALGARY – Police and fire crews were called to the scene of a single vehicle collision in the community of Edgedale Saturday night.
Officials said a car lost control because of the icy roadway, then collided with the top of an underground transformer which dislodged, causing a small explosion.

The Calgary Fire Department said the explosion caused a power outage for at least a dozen homes.
Enmax was working to get the power back and said it would be fixed within a few hours.
Fire officials are reminding drivers to be careful driving during the season as road conditions can change quickly.
“Slow down, take your time and drive appropriately with the road conditions that we are handed,” said Calgary Fire Department district chief Michael King.
