NEW YORK – Calgary Flames left-winger Johnny Gaudreau was named NHL first star of the week on Monday.

He led all players with five goals in two games last week.

Gaudreau had a hat trick in a 4-1 win over Winnipeg on Dec. 22 and scored two goals in a 5-3 win over Edmonton last Sunday.

Dallas Stars goaltender Antti Niemi was the second star and Toronto Maple Leafs centre Tyler Bozak took the third star.

Niemi went 2-0-1 last week with a 1.02 goals-against average and .966 save percentage. Bozak had four goals and an assist over three games.
