UPDATE: Both victims in fiery QEW crash identified

TORONTO — Both victims of a fatal fiery crash in Oakville Tuesday have been publicly identified.

Timothy Boissiere, 23, was travelling with his friend, Michael Calderone, also 23, when the SUV they were riding in was involved in a crash in the Toronto-bound lanes of Queen Elizabeth Way highway near Trafalgar Road around 9 p.m.

His mother, Charmaine Boissiere, remembers her only son as a big sports fan who jumped at every opportunity to play hockey.

“Hockey and him was like bread and butter,” she said.

In fact, Charmaine said Timothy and Calderone were on their way to play hockey at the time of the crash.

Police said the SUV became sandwiched between the two trucks and one of them caught on fire.

The damage was so extensive and the ensuing fire so intense, that a section of the highway remained closed for more than 15 hours.

Charmaine said she and her husband had been trying to call and text Timothy. They started to worry when their son didn’t respond.

“We couldn’t get a hold of him … You have no idea what that does to a parent,” said Charmaine.

She’s urging others to take the time this holiday season to call and spend time with their loved ones.

Timothy and Calderone were pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash hasn’t been determined.
