For the second time this month, a recall has been issued involving Christmas lights sold by Canadian Tire stores.
Canadian Tire issued a recall for approximately 861,750 units of “Holiday Collection Christmas Lights” which were sold across the country between August and December of this year.
The Christmas lights, which were made in China by Zhejiang Kaifu Lamp Co., Ltd., were determined to “pose a fire and electric shock hazard to consumers” after they were tested by Health Canada.
“We take tremendous pride in sourcing quality products for Canadians and we’ve been let down by two factories that have manufactured products that do not meet our safety standards. We will obviously address these failures with the factories, but in the meantime we’re asking Canadians to return the identified products,” said Allan MacDonald, Chief Operating Officer of Canadian Tire said in a statement.
One customer has reported a minor electric shock to Health Canada related to the lights.

It’s recommended people who have purchased the lights should immediately stop using them and return them to Canadian Tire for a refund.
Previous recalls of lights sold by Canadian Tire were issued on Dec. 1st, and a week later on Dec. 7th.
