Driver traveling while missing front tire slapped with impaired driving charge

HALIFAX – Driving through town while missing a front tire has landed one man with an impaired driving charge after a concerned onlooker called police.

The witness called police at 8:45 p.m. on Wednesday after seeing the vehicle, missing a tire, driving on Highway 111 near Mic Mac Boulevard.

The person followed the vehicle, while updating the responding officers, but they lost sight of it near Burnside Drive.

The vehicle was later spotted going over the MacKay Bridge toward Halifax by an officer who stopped it at the Windsor Street Exchange.

The 28-year-old male driver was arrested for impaired driving and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court in January.

Halifax Regional Police are reminding people that driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol puts everyone in danger, and that anyone who suspects a driver is impaired should call 911 to report it.
