Collin Shirley scores twice, adds assist as Blazers down Blades

SASKATOON – Collin Shirley scored twice and added an assist as the Kamloops Blazers downed the Saskatoon Blades 6-2 on Friday night in Western Hockey League action. Gage Quinney, Nick Chyzowski, Garrett Pilon and Ondrej Vala also had goals for the Blazers (13-10-4). Connor Ingram made 33 saves for the win.

Cameron Hebig opened the scoring with his 13th of the season for Saskatoon (10-16-3), which dropped its fifth straight. Mason McCarty answered six-straight Kamloops goals by scoring late in the third.

Brock Hamm turned away 20-of-25 shots in 40 minutes before giving way to Dorrin Luding, who made 10 saves in relief for the Blades.

The Blazers scored once on five power-play opportunities while Saskatoon was 0 for 3.

The Blades host the Regina Pats on Sunday.
