The Goal: Stories about our national passion
If you’ve ever enjoyed a game of pick-up hockey on the backyard rink, or gathered around the living room to cheer your team in a hard-fought playoff game, you will get a real kick out of Andrew Caddell’s interview.
Caddell’s new book “The Goal: Stories about our national passion,” is a collection of short stories about hockey and life.
Written by Caddell, with stories contributed by Montreal Gazette columnist Dave Stubbs and Caddell’s late father Phillipp, the collection is based on actual events. All of the stories are filled with symbolism that spreads messages of fighting adversity, enjoying camaraderie and playing fair.
Welcome Hall Mission’s efforts to deliver a Merry Christmas
At this time of the year, food banks across the city are preparing for their busiest time and among them is the Welcome Hall Mission.
The Mission helps some of the poorest families in Montreal enjoy a beautiful holiday season.
They provide 2,000 Christmas baskets each year to Montreal families.
But that’s just part of their mandate, every year the Welcome Hall Mission serves nearly 200,000 meals to the hungry.
The also offer nearly 80,000 nights of shelter, send children to camps, offer employment counselling and distribute groceries in the community among other things.
