WINNIPEG — Raymond Joseph Cormier, 53, was arrested in Vancouver on Dec. 9 by members of the Winnipeg Police Service Homicide Unit, charged with second-degree murder in the high-profile death of 15-year-old Tina Fontaine. He was remanded into custody and officers are working to get him back to Winnipeg.

It’s believed Cormier and Fontaine had several previous encounters. Officers say they believe he killed her on their last encounter.

Court records indicate Cormier has previous convictions including assault with a weapon and failure to comply with conditions.

Sgt. John O’Donovan said Friday Cormier came into the investigation early on, but so did many others.
At this point, officers say there are no other pending charges against Cormier.
